Kaitlyn and I want to wish you a Merry Christmas!
Recently, I’ve been thinking about how we celebrate Christmas. It's easy to talk about where we are traveling to, if we have the food ready, and all those things. But I know for me, at least, I really want to make sure that I don’t forget that this is Jesus's day, not ours. We will still be celebrating with my family and I will be cooking some great pork chops. But the only reason we truly have to gather and celebrate is because of the gift that we have received! The gift that we received isn't really just that Jesus was born on Christmas, but rather God's motivation behind sending His Son on Christmas. Our perception of God is often that we don't want to bother Him because He's busy and all powerful. But our gift on Christmas is that Jesus said He wasn't too busy for us. That the most powerful being in all existence thinks that you and I are special and valuable to Him, not because of what we could do for Him, but because He made us and He's proud of who He's made. Zephaniah 3:17 says that God is rejoicing over you with gladness, and He is experiencing joy just thinking about you. This amazing gift calls for a great celebration with food, loved ones, and traditions!
So in the next few days as you go about your traditions and gatherings, would you consider taking a moment to reflect on the greatest gift we have ever received?
